Poliomyelitis Not Restricted To Hot Weather

P.A. WELLINGTON. May 14. “ Contrary to popular belief the disease is not one which is restricted to hot weather,” said Dr Hubert Smith, district medical officer, commenting on the infantile paralysis epidemic. “ Once started it can hang on through the cooler weather.” Dr Smith added that neither the Health Department nor he as medical officer had yet considered imposing any special restrictions or advising special precautions nor did he think these were necessary.
