RATES FOR FAT STOCK WEEKLY BURNSIDE SALE The feature of the Burnside sale yesterday was the high values secured for fat sheep. The market was in short supply,- after two sales which were also below requirements for the trade. The effect was that supplies were exhausted and butchers were bidding freely to secure anything like their share of the stock. It would appear that fat sheep are not available in any numbers, as no doubt with the prices being secured at recent sales, larger yardings would have come to hand. If this is to be an indication of the market, it points to small yardings and particularly high prices being secured. The yarding of fat cattle approximately 400. For quality this was the best yarding which has been offered at Burnside for some time, and the market showed a firm tone throughout, with prices somewhat similar to those ruling last week, although medium and ordinary sorts did not hold their own. The offering of fat lambs was a small one, there being only about 150 yarded. Quality was better than in previous weeks, and values were well maintained to a shade better. In the store cattle section the yarding was larger than for some weeks, and with the better class of cattle offering, competition was good for all classes, with a particularly good sale for good young sorts. The sale of baconers and porkers was somewhat similar to that of recent weeks, but there was again an over-supply of medium class pigs. Good quality baconers had a good inquiry, but with the over-
