RICCARTON NOTES

Special to the Daily Times CHRISTCHURCH, Mar. 12.

The Riccartom horses that are to race at Oamaru were all in good order when they went south to-day. Authentic and Palomino raced well at the Banks Peninsula meeting last week, and they are due for early successes. Flying Control has shown great speed in his recent work, and is an improver. Four steeplechasers from Rlccarton may go to Riverton at Easter. Roman Son, Bravura, and Master Play are engaged in open company, while Open Cast will start among the hacks, G. S. Barr has Lunarla back in work, and will educate him as a steeplechaser. Indian Sign has also returned from a spell. He is a good cross-country horse, if only he remains sound. B. H. Brodie is breaking in the two-year-old Atomic Star, by Nightly from Pink Star, by Pink Coat from Theda, the dam of Great Star.

Sangwin, who has joined the team of E. Rosewarne, is a six-year-old mare by Sporting Blood from Our Bonnie, by The Ace, and she has been spelling since she was a three-year-old, when she was unplaced twice. She has shown aptitude at jumping, and she may be . tried l as a steeplechaser, A recent addition to the team of J. C. Tomkinson is a two-year-old brother to the jumper Wane, by Defaulter from Moonbeam. He is being taken along quietly, as there is no intention of racing him till late in the season.
