GOLF CLUB
Annual Meeting
Mr H. A. Murison was in the chair at the annual meeting of the North Otago Golf Club on Monday night. The past year had been very successful, Mr Murison said, and it was expected that next season would be more successful, with the growth in membership. A vote of thanks was passed to the Women’s Club for its generous support last season, and also to the Grounds Committee and Mr Farrell for their work in the planting of trees. Ten new members were elected. It was reported that more interest was being taken in summer golf, and the opening cay was fixed for both women's and men's clubs on Saturday, February 21. As some of the old machinery was worn beyond repair, it was decided to purchase a new motor mower.
It was decided to play two qualifying rounds for the championship competition on consecutive Saturdays and that 16 players should qualify in each section. It was decided to' revive many of the old games, including a veterans’ day, father and son competition, and compulsory games of senior players with junior partners.
Office-bearers elected were: President, Mr J. McGaw; club captain, Mr F. S. Millies; deputy captain, Mr E. Fraser; secretary-treasurer, Mr V. Wright; committee —Messrs J. Collins. I. Harrison, A. Lane, H. Dyson, K. Herbert, J. Rutherford, N. Ireland and S. R. Cuthbertson.
