The price is £1397 and the shovel was manufactured in the United Kingdom. Other tenders accepted included the following for poles required for the initial trolley-bus installation:—Hume Pipe Company, Ltd., 110 “ Stobie ” type poles for the Crawford street section, £2202; the Timber, Coal and Box Agency, Christchurch, 232 poles, £4196 10s; A. J. Allen, Ltd., 1010 poles, £7728; Keith Ramsay, Ltd., 48 poles, £507. The council also accepted the tender of Napier Motors, Ltd., for two 10 h.p. Ford Prefect cars for the gas department. These cars were manufactured in England. The total cost will be £1064, less a trade-in allowance of £355 on the department’s two old vehicles, a net cost of £709.
