CROWDS RUSH GATES

BRITISH TATTOO ARENA FINAL PERFORMANCE IN BERLIN Rec. 8 p.m. BERLIN, Aug. 17. A British military police officer was badly crushed and a number of Germans had bones broken when thousands stormed the walls and gates of the British service tattoo arena for the final performance. The trouble arose from people with and without tickets using the same entrance. When the ticket-holders’ gate opened the others surged into the arena. It is estimated that over 30,000 were present when the performance stated, though there were only enough seats for about 20,000. The British authorities refused a German request to continue the performance for another week.
