COLLAPSE OF BRIDGE

YOUNG MAN DROWNED P.A. AUCKLAND, Aug. 4. A young man was drowned wnen he fell from a swing footbridge, into the Upper Waiwera Stream on Sunday evening. He was Roy Henry Joyce, aged 22, a farmer, of Waiwera. The victim together with his mother and father, was crossing the bridge on his way home when it collapsed, and the three of them fell into the river Joyce, sen., assisted his-wife to the bank, but was unable to locate his son The accident occurred at about 8 p.m., and the body of the deceased was recovered approximately two hours later. Artificial respiration was applied, but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
