PROVINCIAL GOVERNORS APPOINTED

Re.c. 8 p.m. . LONDON, Aug. 3. The following Governors of provinces, which after August 15 will form part of the Dominion of India, have agreed to continue as Governors in the same provinces:—Madras, Lieutenant-general Sir Archibald Nye; Bombay, Colonel Sir David Colville; Assam, Sir Mohammed Saleh Akbar Hydari. The King has approved of the appointments of the Governors of other provinces from August 15 as follows: West Bengal, Chakravanti Rajagopalachari; East Punjab. Sir Chandulal Madhaveal Trivedi; Central Provinces and Bera, Mangaldas Pakwasa; Bihar, Jairamaoas Daulatram; Orrissa Dr Kaiws Nath Katju., Pakistan Provinces.—West Punjab, Sir Robert Mudie; Sind, Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah; North-west Frontier. Sir George Cunningham. His Majesty intimated that .he would later formally approve the. appointment as Governor of the United Provinces of Dr B. C. Roy, who at present is in the United States.
