NEED FOR RESTORATION OF LIVE STOCK

Rec. 10 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 4. The Minister of Agriculture, Mr Tom Williams, addressing farmers in Northwich, Cheshire, said that Britain wanted to get away from cereals, potatoes and sugar, and concentrate on live stock, says The Times. If Britain was to regain a sound economic state, the sooner she started a breeding campaign to restore her live stock the better. British live stock, provided feedingstuffs were available, could be expanded very quickly to provide the housewife with more bacon, eggs and meat. The Minister expressed.regret that farmers were ready to accept agricultural work. Farmers, by employing displaced Europeans, would be helping not only themselves, but also Britain’s standard of life.
