POWER SAVING

QUOTA ALMOST ACHIEVED WAIPORI STILL RISING Dunedin power saving during the six days up to midnight on Saturday was not quite the required 1 per cent. The figures for the week up to that time showed a saving of 8.88 per cent., the actual percentage for ,the day being 5.3. Tuesday’s saving was the best of the week, but it was followed by a less successful effort on Wednesday, when the low temperatures was paralleled by a low percentage of saving. The saving percentages for the week were: Monday 10.00 Tuesday 15.57 Wednesday 3.71 Thursday 7.82 Friday 9.33 Saturday 5.3 “We must hope for better figures to-day in order to record our saving requirements,” said the City Electrical Engineer. Mr G. T. Edgar, in an interview with the Daily Times yesterday. He said that, although there had been no rain at Waipori, the lake had risen half an inch and the reading was 66ft OJin at midnight on Saturday.
