WINS FOR OTAGO

REPRESENTATIVE SOFTBALL SOUTHLAND OUTCLASSED Otago scored two clear-cut wins over Southland in the men’s and women’s representative softball games held at Hancock Park on Saturday afternoon by the Otago Men’s Softball Association before a good number of spectators. In a return match, the men’s team beat Southland by 23-5. Otago led all the way and Southland was out-hit and out-fielded.

I. Mann hit two home runs for Otago, and J. Noble one home run for Southland. T. Lethaby played a sound game for Otago at centre field, taking some good catches, as did B. Hellyer at second base. J. Lyall performed well at second base for Southland.

The teams were:— Otago—l. Mann (pitcher), R. Birtles (catcher), W. Dickinson (first base), B Hellyer (second base), E. Blaney (third base), H. Petrie (short stop), G. Gardner (left outfield), T. Lethaby (centre outfield), and R. Vickers (right outfield). ~ _ Southland—L. Lyons, J. Noble. D. Goodson, R. Lyons, J. Lyall, A. Huffidine, T. Bell, K. Smith, J. Bath. Women’s Game Otago beat Southland by 12-2 in the women’s game. The outstanding player for the winners was Miss Isabel Eckhold, who has been a member of every Otago representative team to date. She played an excellent game.
