SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE PLANNED i _____ MAINLY MANUFACTURED GOODS

(Rec. 7.30 'p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 30. The United States Military Government has planned American zone exports exceeding £25,000,000 for 1947, mere than quadrupling the 1946 figure, says the Berlin correspondent of The Times. Exports to the end of November were under £6,000,000, 90 per cent, being raw materials. The exports for 3947 will be mainly manufactures, including chinaware, optical goods, chemicals, toys, jewellery, and leather goods. This is officially described as a sign of progress towards Germany paying her own way. The American export programme will be fitted into the plans of the joint agency which; under the economic fusion agreement will handle Germany’s foreign trade.
