COMMUNITY SING FUNDS

Sir,—Mr J. Himburg's footnote to my letter does not answer the facts. First, the advertisement in the Daily Times states that the ” proceeds are for another worthy cause,” the Mater Hospital. Whether the appeal came from the Mater Hospital Auxiliary Guild or not, the fact remains that it was for a private hospital which works on a profit basis. All business concerns pay for additions, etc., from profit. Therefore, it is still not right for private hospitals to accept charity from guilds or the general public. Mr Himburg also mentions " denominational basis.” Why bring that into the discussion?—l am, etc., Not a Patient.
