MAY ATTEND CONFERENCE
CONCILIATORY ARAB GESTURE JERUSALEM, Aug. 10. Jamal Bey Husseini, after a halfhour conference with General Sir Alan Cunningham, said the Palestine Arabs might after all agree to go to London for talks on Palestine. Husseini added that General Cunningham gave an assurance that the London discussions would not be limited to a federal plan, but would be open to suggestions from Arabs.
Police and troops carried out a house-to-house search in a small Jewish in the suburbs of Jerusalem, and after five hours’ search five Jews wqre detained.
The staff of the Palestine Government Land Settlement Administration hurriedly evacuated the former Palace Hotel after receiving anonymous telephone warning that the building was to be blown up. Troops \yere called out to stand by to support the police. It is suggested that the warning may be one of the false alarms the terrorists have been using since the King David Hotel explosion in the “ war of nerves.”
