TRANSFERRED TO HOKITIKA

PROMINENT SOUTHLAND PLAYER E. G. Walker, who played a flrstclass game for Southland in the Ranfurly Shield match against Otago at Invercargill last Saturday, has been informed of his transfer to Hokitika in the service of the Forestry Department. It is reported that Walker will not be called upon to. leave Invercargill for several weeks yet, and it is possible that he will be available for Southland for the remainder of the Ranfurly Shield season. ’ Walker, who plays for the Hign School Old Boys’ Club, is one of the most promising young backs Southland has produced for many years. He was selected for Southland two years ago when still at High School, and this season he was nominated for the South Island team. Walker is also a fine field athlete, and while at school showed great ability as a shot putter. He is a member of the Invercargill Amateur Athletic Club
