SATISFACTION EXPRESSED
. AUCKLAND MANUFACTURERS (P.A.) AUCKLAND, July 26. Satisfaction with the . Government’s decision to commence an air freight service was expressed to-day by the secretary of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association, Mr J. R. Don. Ht: said that no details of costs had been given, but provided they were reasonable, there was not the slightest doubt that manufacturers throughout the country would take full advantage of the service. He added that there were many classes of manufacturers’ freight which, because of lack of bulk and the need for urgent delivery, could be shipped by air, especially in these days with, at times, an almost complete disruption of the internal distribution system owing to the shortage of coal for railways and shipping delays. Mr Don said thaj; in some respects it was disappointing that the service was to be a State affair rather than a service opei’ated by private enterprise.
