ARRIVAL IN MANILA
GENERAL WAINWRIGHT MOVED MANILA, Aug. 30. General Wainwright has arrived here en route to Japan. He was visibly shaken by his return to the city. He saw the fall, and was deeply impressed by the sight of hundreds of planes and transports, and other evidence of newborn American might. General Wainwright received a hero’s welcome. The-military police could not hold back the cheering crowds. President Osmena welcomed the general on behalf of the Philippines Commonwealth.
