BALCLUTHA RAM FAIR

The annual ram fair under the auspices of the Clutha and Matau A. and P. Society was held on the Show Ground on Saturday in fine weather. There was a large attendance, and good prices were realised, the Romney Marsh breed being in keen demand. The top price of 33gns was secured by Mr A. H. Moffat (Te Houka) for a one-shear stud Romney ram. The next best price was 25gns to Mr Adam King (Stony Creek). Mr Moffat* also topped the flock rams at 24Jgns. The price of 19gns was secured by Messrs S. W, Moffat, E. Botting, the estate of W. Robertson (Waikoikoi), while Mr R' A. Moffat secured 233gns each for two one-shear Romney rams and 24Jgns for another pen. Prices all round for Romneys were good. Border Leicesters did not sell so well, prices ranging from ,sgns to 6igns. Southdowns sold from 31gns to 121gns.
