HERIOT STOCK SALE
The main sale of the season was held at Heriot yesterday. Southern buyers were'' present and their competition, together with the local inquiry, created a demand for all classes with . the excepliono of wether lambs, which met with a dull sale. Several good lines of annual draft sound-mouthed ewes were included in the entry of approximately 11,000 sheep. There were also a few specially good lots of two-tooth ewes, and some select ewe lambs. The entry included some good drafts of wethers. The best lines of ewes sold at a little better than last season’s rates, ordinary quality bringing par to slightly lower prices. Good ewe lambs and wethers sold well. Quotations: Best two-tooth ewes, 40s to 465; medium, 34s 6d 1o 38s; small, from 245; extra good four-tooth ewes, 43s 6d; extra good six-tooth ewes, 37s Gd; ordinary four and six-tooth ewes, 29s 6d; best annual draft ewes, 27s to 30s; good full-mouthed paddock ewes, 22s to 26s Gd; full and failing-mouthed ewes, 17s 6d to 21s; extra good ewe lambs, 31s to 335; good ewe lambs, 27s 6d to- 2Ds; medium ewe lambs, 23s 6d to 265; best wether lambs, 19s; small to medium wether lambs, 12s Gd to 16s; fat and forward wethers, 25s to 27s 9d.
