(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Mar. 19. The following is a statement of the assets and liabilities of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand as at the close of business on Monday, March 12 (the figures for the previous return being given in parentheses)
Liabilities.—General Reserve Fund £1.500,000 (£1,500,000), bank notes £39,504,470 (£39,700,513); demand liabilities—Slate £25,783,402 (£17,821,243), banks £26,787,104 (£34,550,585), other £560,441 (£532,370); liabilities in currencies other than New Zealand, £8,163 (£11,859); other liabilities, £2,464,166 (£2,443,058); total, £96,607,755 (£96,609,611). Assets.—Reserve gold, £2,801,877 (£2,801,877); sterling exchange, £48,342,429 (£48,030,038); subsidiary coin, £41,764 (£37,063); advances to the State or State undertakings Marketing Department £2,280,598 (£689,259); for other purposes, £27,885,000 (£29,885,000); investments, £13,257,443 (£13,257,512); other assets, £1,998,641 (£1,858,896); total, £96,607,755 (£96,609,611). Proportion of reserves to notes and other demand liabilities, 55.201 per cent. (54.903 per cent.).
