GIFT TO VICTORIA LEAGUE

The Wellington Victoria League received an appropriate and valuable gift recently, when a plate which had belonged to Mrs R. J. Seddon was presented to the league by her daughter, Mrs Knox Gilmer. The plate commemorates Queen Victoria’s golden jubilee, and was presented to Mrs Seddon when she visited England for the jubilee with her husband, who was at that time Prime Minister of New Zealand. The plate, which is blue, has a border of gold. The figure of the Queen in her robes of State is depicted standing on a globe of the world, and the words " Victoria Regina ” surround the figure. It wall be hung as a plaque in the league's reception room.
