OBITUARY

The death occurred recently at 1 her residence Glen road, Caversham, of Miss Helen Scott, second daughter of the late Mr James Scott, of “ Drumoak,” Wyndham. Bom at Grant’s Braes, Anderson’s Bay, In 1868, she went to Wyndham with her parents in 1875, and resided there for many years. Some years ago she returned to Dunedin, where she lived quietly until her death. Mrs Susan Cunningham, whose death occurred last week, in her ninetieth year, was born in Glasgow in 1854 and came out to Dunedin with her parents, Mr and Mrs A. McLachlan, in the ship Pladda, arriving here on Christmas Day in 1862. The family settled In Dunedin, where the deceased had for some time a small private school in South Dunedin. In 1886 she married Mr James Watson Cunningham. a lighthouse keeper, and with him she lived in several of the many isolated lighthouses up and down the coast. When Mr Cunningham retired they came to Dunedin, where they resided for the rest of their lives. Mr Cunningham died a few days after the celebration of their golden wedding. Mrs Cunningham was a member of First Church, the Early Settlers’ Association, and the Burns Club. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs G. A. Price, of Dunedin, and Mrs A. Meikle, of Nelson.
