RACING AT RANDWICK

MAIN TOPIC WINS METROPOLITAN (Rec. 9 p.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 24. Last year’s Derby winner, Main Topic, won the Metropolitan at Randwick to-day, beating this year’s Derby winner, Moorland and equalling the Australian record time for a mile and five furlongs. Main Topic and Moorland singled themselves out a furlong from home, and in a thrilling finish Main Topic, desperately ridden, just worried Moorland out of first prize. Following are the results:— METROPOLITAN HANDICAP, One mile and five furlongs. Main Topic, 8.13 (Bartle), 1; Moorland, 7.8 (W. Cook), 2; Eureka, 7.9 (Darke), 3. Twenty-four started. Won by half a head, with two lengths and a-half between second and third. Time, 2min 41£sec.
