WINNERS OF DIVISIONS SAINT WARDEN AND SKIPTON (Rec 9 pm.) MELBOURNE, Oct. 24. In winning the first division of the Caulfield Cup at Flemington to-day, the rank outsider Saint Warden caused the greatest surprise in the long history of the race. Saint Warden, who had won only one other race in two years, was a long way back in the early stages, but gradually made up ground and hit the front a furlong from the post. St. Warden was bred in New Zealand. There was strong support for The Joker, but he finished only eleventh. ~ In the second division of the Cup Skipton returned to his brilliant three-year-old form and won pulling up. Dominate finished ninth. Following are the results:— CAULFIELD CUP, Of £6500 One mile and a-half.

First Division: St. Warden, 7.3 (H. White) 1; Heart’s Desire, 7.8 (Preston). 2; Simmering, 7.5 (Unkovitch), 3. Twentytwo started. Three quarters of a length, half a head. Time, 2min Second Division: Skipton, 9.2 (Breasley), 1; Amans, 8.4 (Dewhurst), 2; Centenary, 8.0 (Heather), 3. Twenty-three started. One and a-half lengths, a length. Time, 2min 30Jsec.
