NOTES FROM TRENTHAM

(Special) WELLINGTON, Oct. 20. Though remaining in the acceptances, the following horses are doubtfui starters at the Wellington meeting:—Pell Mell, Hine Rei, Master Ted, Cramond Bay, Duality, Sedgemere, Grey Salute, St. Nattar, Kiltie, Bascule. Bdrossa, La Serena, and Silvestre. Brackets in the Wellington race book for the first day at Trent'ham are as follows:—Wellington Guineas—Expanse and Grey Salute, Skyhawk and St. Nattar, Tara King and Typhoon, Denary and Lady Nahleen, La Serena and Llnbury; Rimutaka Handicap—Prudentia and Lord Brolefort, Fort Royal and Grecian Flame, Guile and Honest Sal, Inscription and Miss Wheriko, Ozel and Poiario, Silver Lily arid Tristan; Wellington Handicap, Gladynev and Don Quex; Wellesley Stakes— Battle Shield and Jannie Girl, Hoodikt and Lalla Meer, Laurium and Leighon's Glory, M.y Bonnie and Subdued; October Handicap—Cheap Lodging and Cracroft, Day Lightning and Genghiz Khan, Greenfeast and Griffin, Maharajah and Manutere. Pel] Mell and Silver Foot, To-day was an off morning at Trentham, and there was no fast galloping, most of the tasks being strong pace work, the bulk of which was done on the plough. Tiiis track was still damp in patches near (he five furlongs, but with another fine day and a light wind the tracks are drying out rapidly, and provided no further rain falls this week the going on Saturday will be perfect.
