TROTTING NOTES

The first race at the Oamaru Trotting Club's meeting will start at 12.15 p.m, The Ringtrue gelding Farshall is booked to race at Auckland on Saturday. Springfield Globe is reported to be a doubtful starter in the Trotting Cup. Brackets at Gore are Bright Lass and Trevathan in the Balfour Trot; Aberbond and Scotch Music, and Fancy Goods and Master Potts in the Otama Trot. . Countless is favourite for the Hannon Memorial Handicap at Oamaru, and Canister and Lucky Gem share the honour in the Redcastle Handicap. The U. Scott gelding Fantom, who won in 3min 32 4-ssec at Wellington and in 3min 31 l-ssec at Addington last season, and in 3min 24 l-ssec at Addington this season, is on 3min 37sec at Auckland. The following rule has recently been adopted by the ruling body in New South Wales: “At a licensed trotting meeting held within 40 miles of the G.P.0., Sydney, the stewards, if they consider the performance or performances of any horse to be inconsistent or unsatisfactory, may recommend to the committee of the club conducting the fixture that the entry of such horse bo refused for any specified period. Upon such recommendation being made by the stewards of a club the horse concerned shall not thereafter be entered for or start in any race at a licensed trotting meeting in the metropolitan area unless and until the recommendation has been rejected by the committee of the club concerned or the period mentioned in the recommendation has expired or is terminated by such committee, Before any recommendation is made under the provisions of this rule the driver, trainer, and nominator shall be afforded an opportunity of tendering any explanation they maV desire to make concerning the horse’s performances.”
