Community Singing.—On Friday night a concert party from Gore, headed by Messrs H. H. Brown and Archie Jones, held a community sing in aid of the local patriotic funds, the sum of over £IOO being raised. The Mayor of Gore (Mr D. Shelton) stated that the party had already helped country districts to raise over £7OOO. He paid a tribute to the efforts of Mr and Mrs Brown. The following gave items: —Solos, Mr Weir, Miss S. Stevenson. and Mr Jones; duets, Messrs Jones and C. H. Weir, and Messrs Weir and Brown: dancing, Miss Marjorie Christ'ansen; sketch, Mrs H. Horren and Messrs Jones’and Brown; dance, Miss Jean Miller; humorous items, Mr Shelton.
