PARENTS AND PRISONERS

MEETING OF AID SOCIETY The monthly meeting of the committee of the Patients and Prisoners Aid Society was <held- yesterday afternoon. Mr T. Somerville presided, and others present were Mesdames E. C. Reynolds and C. O. Mathias, Messrs C. J. Wood, J. Taylor, and H. Renfree, and Dr J. Thomson. Accounts amounting to £4l 4s 5d were passed for payment. The resignation of the matron of the James Powell. Convalescent Home, Mrs James, was.accepted. The report of * the agent (Mr A. O. Steven) stated that visits had been made to the local prison, and prisoners and dependents assisted. Sunday church services were conducted at Seacliff and the Orokonui Home, and the patients iat Cherry Farm, Merton, were visited. Arrangements were to be made for a party of patients to visit the Winter Show, where articles made by the patients in the Occupational Therapy Department were to be exhibited. Literature and fruit were supplied to the Wakari Hospital and the Pleasant Valley Sanatorium. There were how 44 patients at Wakari and 43 at Pleasant Valley, including several returned soldiers. Eight patients were admitted to the James Powell Convalescent Home during the month.
