CROQUET

MEETING OF ASSOCIATION

The annual meeting of the Otago Croquet Association was held on Thursday, May 27, Mrs W. E. Gibson presiding over a full attendance of delegates. The annual report and balance -sheet disclosed a satisfactory year’s work under somewhat difficult conditions. , . , The following officers were elected:— President, Mrs Gibson; vice-presidents— Mesdames A. McGregor, H. J. Dixon, and N. Anderson; secretary and treasurer, Mrs J Rhodes; referee and handicapper, Mrs B. Buchler; Match Committee—Mesdames Buchler (convener), G. Metcalf, and N. Anderson; Lawns Committee, Mesdames Dixon and M. Campbell; reporters, Mesdames Buchler and G. Nelson; social convener, Mrs McGregor; auditor, Mr J. Torrance. It was decided to hold the tournament, if circumstances permitted, commencing on Tuesday, February 8, 1944. Minor alterations were made to the programme, and Mrs Gibson was appointed manager and Mrs Rhodes assistant. The method of play and scoring in interclub matches was briefly discussed, and the matter, was held over till the September meeting. It was emphasised that the main difficulty confronting the association was labour to keep the lawns in good order. It was reported that steps had been taken to top-dress them. Mrs Gibson thanked the delegates for her re-election, and also last years committee for its loyal support.
