(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, Apl. 29. Griffin easily beat La Serena over five furlongs on the outside of the course proper in lmin 5 3-ssec.

On the plough, Straight Bat ran five furlongs well in lmin 2sec, and Donnybrook Fair registered lrryn 3 3-ssec without trouble. Theolateral and St. Cloud did six furlongs in lmin 15 2-ssec. Chiding took lmin 15 3-ssec, Lord Advocate and Justitia lmin 16 l-ssec, Eulogist lmin 16sec, Scottish Dale lmin 17 l-ssec, and Palfrey and Royal Writ lmin 17 3-ssec. Dominate ran seven furlongs in lmin 32 l-ssec, and The Joker was just in front of Arctic Dawn in lrpin 32 3-ssec. Royal Lancer and Macedoine were given useful tasks, and both horses look well. Tutere and Sir Gundi have been scratched for the Great Autumn Handicap. Unless rain falls before Sautrday, St. Cloud will not be a starter in the Great Autumn Handicap. There is also some doubt about Fur Coat in the Templeton Handicap, as he is sore. Theolateral is expected to miss the sprint and to run in the Great Autumn Handicap, in which C. H. Mackie has been engaged to ride him.
