(Special) INVERCARGILL. Apl. 29. Strip and King Gustavo ran six furlongs comfortably in lmin 24sec, the first ,two in 26 2-ssec. Strip looks none the worse for his experience at Riverton, where he bled alter contesting the Riverton Cup. His owners stated this morning that it was only a slight attack. A. E. Didham will be riding at Riccarton on Saturday, and arrangements have not been completed for a rider for Strip. Platform was always going better than Gold Nugget over seven furlongs in lmin 36 4-ssec, the first three in 39 2-ssec. Platform has two engagements at Invercargill on Saturday, but he will be reserved for the Awarua Handicap, in which he will be ridden by K. Wilson. The Nightraid gelding looks well after his racing at Riverton, and he could have improved on his , time this morning. Royal Chorus and Royal Brief worked pleasingly together over seven furlongs, running the last six in lmin 22sec, and the last four in 54 3-ssec. Royal Chorus did his work exceptionally well in the heavy going. Crinkle was running on much better than Blissful Lady at the end of six furlongs in lmin 24 2-ssec, the last four in 56 l-ssec. Southern Sail worked nicely when running a mile in lmin 54 2-ssec, and Spanish Lad took lmin 56 2-ssec for a similar task. Gundagai assisted him over the last five furlongs in lmin Bsec. Fair Trial finished in front of Top Row over five furlongs in lmin Bsec, the last four in 55sec. Sea Lady and Elvena reeled off half a mile in 54sec—a good gallop. Some Sing, Signal Red, Star Lee, and Yodelling Song were given barrier work, and the first-named carried on to run five furlongs in lmin 9 l-ssec, a good effort from a barrier start. Valens and Merry Simon gave a dashing display over a round of the steeplechase fences. Prince Ruenalf and Heidelberg were schooled together over one hurdle on the course proper, the former jumping the better. Colonel Rouge and Anglo-Irish were schooled a couple of times over the hurdle on the course proper and both shaped well. Kippen was given a similar task and jumped well. True Range and Bow Street were schooled together over a round of the schooling hurdles and shaped just fair. Recail jumped well over a round of the schooling hurdles until the last, hurdle, which he hit hard and tossed his rider.
