(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, Mar. IC. The trial grass was In good order this morning, and there were a tew useful gallops by horses engaged at Oamaru. ' Palfrey narrowly beat Royal Writ Over a mile in lmin 42 2-ssee, the first half in 50sec. It was an attractive trial for both horses. ■ Foxleap went nicely for seven furlongs in lmin 30sec, while Kevin beat Night Believer in similar time. Kevin is ready to show his best form. Night Believer was galloped or. at Motukarara, so he has had an easy time, but after another sprint he should race '.veil on Saturday. Sir- Gundi ran six furlongs in lmin 17see, the last lour in 50 3-ssec. Mike dashed over half a mile in 50 l-ssec, his best track effort to date, while Pell Melt and Langue d’Or finished well in 50 2-ssec. Troytown gave a very attractive display in a school over six hurdles. Good Sun, who went with him, hit the last two flights, but it was his best showing since he came here. ■ , Nine horses from here returned this mormng from Trentham, while Tring accompanied them, on his way home to Otago. . . „ Scottish Dale and Trueway are missing from the Oamaru acceptances! and apparently they did not race well enough at Trentham to warrant being taken to Awapuni, as they came home to-day.
