The following quotations per lOOib for beef and per lb for mutton and pigs are supplied, with a comparison with last week’s prices, by our special representative at yesterday’s sale:— This Last

Young ewes were in demand, and met keen competition, but all other classes showed no improvement on last week’s rates. Quotations: Extra prime heavy wethers, to 40s; prime, from 33s to 35s 6d; medium, from 28s 6d to 31s 6d: light, down to 225; extra prime heavy young ewes, to 28s; prime heavy, from 23s to 25s 6d; medium, from 14s to 18s; light, down to 10s.

Fat Lambs.—There was a large entry in this section, the quality not being as good as the previous market. Butchers competed freely for all suitable lines, and exporters operated at full schedule rates throughout. Quotations: Prime heavy butchers' lambs, to 30s; prime, from 24s 6d to 26s 6d; medium, from 23s to 24s 3d; light, down to 20s 3d

Fat Pigs.—There was a large offering submitted to auction. The entrv numbered 326, the bulk of this being made up of porkers. On account of the larger supply, there was a decline in value of fully 5s per head for both baconers end porkers. Best baconers sold to £5 19s, while porkers realised from £3 5s to £3 19s, according' to size and quality. The yarding of store pigs numbered 80, and values had an easing tendency, sales being made at lesser rates than have been ruling recently. Store Cattle. —The entry of store cattle numbered 180. There was only a small percentage of steers included, a pen of three-year-olds selling at £ll 17s 6d a head. Vealers were forward in larger numbers, and generally sold at slightly depreciated rates. The usual assortment of boner and grazier cows maintained late values.
