OBITUARY

MR P. J. H. WHITE (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH. Dec. 16. The death of Mr Percy James Hoyland White, a prominent New Plymouth business man and educationist, occurred suddenly to-day. when he collapsed while playing bowls. Mr White, who was governing director of White’s, Ltd., New Plymouth, was educated at the New Plymouth High School. He joined his father in business in 1896, and was president of the New Zealand Drapers’ Federation in 1926 He took a prominent part in public life, serving as a member of the Taranaki Education Board, the High School Board of Governors, the Technical College Board, the Victoria University College Council, the Polynesian Society, the Rotary Club, and the Chamber of Commerce.
