HOMING PIGEON CLUE

The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew its Yearling Derby on Saturday from Parnassus. The station master liberated 68 birds, representing 15 lofts, in fine weather, with a north-west wind. The birds made a good flight, having to contend with a strong south-west wind at the home end. The winning bird flew the 265 miles in seven hours at a velocity of 1089 yards per minute. Results:—A. Morris's Flying Fortress 1, J. Scoullar's Blue Star 2, L. Tonk's Standing By 3, M. Anderson’s Repetition 4, J. Still’s Haka 5, A. Fraser’s Bob’s Old Boy G. The’ club will fly the Stevenson Memorial Race from Napier next Saturday, the air-, line distance being 554 miles.
