DARWIN RAIDS
<» THREE SUCCESSIVE DAYS NEW ENEMY FORMATION SYDNEY, June 16. Twenty-seven Japanese bombers, escorted by fighters, raided Darwin for the third day in succession, shortly after noon yesterday, says a report issued to the press by Allied headquarters. Although the raid was extensive, there were only a few casualties, and the damage was slight. Our fighters are believed to have shot down a number of enemy machines. The raiders adopted a new formation, flying in small V's of three bombers each. The planes in each V formation dropped their bombs in succession. Formerly enemy planes have dropped all the bombs simultaneously. In yesterday's attack the raiders flew at a height of 15,000 and 20,000 feet and dropped their bombs more carefully than usual.
