TAINUI RATEPAYERS
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION Mr W. Jacobsen presided at the monthly meeting of the executive of the Tainui Ratepayers' Association. In view of the existing conditions, it was decided that no good purpose would be served by pointing out to the City Council that kerbing and channelling were still being awaited in certain streets. Mr Wilson expressed the hope that the Tainui district would not be forgotten when men and materials again became available. It was decided to write again to the town clerk regarding a bus service between 7.30 a.m. and 8.30 a.m. from Crest street. When it was pointed out that, owing to the petrol shortage, some difficulty might be encountered in arranging such a service, Mr J. Lawrie replied that the Mornington and Roslyn districts did not appear to have had much difficulty in arranging a Sunday morning service to the city. One member slated that it was becoming a habit of the bus drivers to pull up with a good portion of the bus protruding ' across intersections in Cavcll street. It was hoped that this practice would be stopped before an accident happened.
