MINISTER IN CHINA

AUSTRALIA'S DECISION (Rec. 1 a.m.) SYDNEY, May 13. The Commonwealth Government has decided to appoint an Australian Minister to China. The Minister of Internal Affairs (Sir Frederick Stewart), announcing this to-night, said the Government's decision was further recognition of the fact that Australia possessed vital interests and had increasing responsibilities in the Pacific. Mr Stewart added that Chungking had welcomed the Commonwealth's decision.
