CANADIAN TROOPS
BRITAIN ASKS FOR MORE OTTAWA, May 12. Colonel J. L. Ralston (Minister of Defence), broadcasting last night in connection with the opening of an enlistment drive for 32.000 men inside two months, disclosed that Britain had asked for thousands of additional troops from Canada in 1941. Colonel Ralston, in the Budget speech, rejected the Conservative demand for compulsory enlistment of overseas troops. He said this demand was an unwelcome blow against the unity of Canada.
