IMPORT LICENCES

FOURTH-PERIOD APPLICATIONS CLOSING ON JUNE 30 (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 18. Applications for licences to import goods during the fourth licensing period are to be lodged with the Collectors of Customs not later than June 30, according to an announcement by the Minister of Finance (Mr W. Nash) to-day. More than two months had elapsed, Mr Nash said, since the schedule for the fourth period was promulgated, and this should have afforded - importers sufficient time to prepare and lodge their applications. It was necessary,.to determine a Anal date by which applications should be received, and this had now been fixed at June 30. The licences issued for the fourth period would be valid for imports up to December 31, the date of expiry of the period.
