The weather during the past week has been distinctly changeable and unseasonable. After strong wind and threatening conditions last Tuesday, there was heavy rain, accompanied by wind in the evening. A few heavy showers also fell on Wednesday night, ard on Thursday morning there was a good coating of snow on the Mount Pisa range. There was evidently a much heavier rainfall further up country, as on Wednesday morning the Kawarau River at the town showed a sharp rise of eight feet. On Thursday there was a return to more settled weather, although cold winds were still in evidence. On Sunday evening, after strong winds, steady rain set in.
