CITY POLICE COURT

Tuesday, August 8 (Before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.WP Charge of Theft A Maori youth, the suppression of whose name was ordered by the magistrate, appeared on a charge of the theft of a pair of gloves.—Chief Detective Holmes stated that the youth, who was 19 years of age, was employed as a porter at tea rooms in the city, and hid taken the gloves from the pocket of a coat in the cloakroom. It had been noted that he had a pair similar to that which had been stolen, and be had ultimately confessed the theft.— " This looks like a case of a boy getting into the wrong type of employment," stated the magistrate. "It is fortunate for him that this theft was discovered.'' —The defendant was admitted to .probation for a period of 12 months, and instructed to take up employment in some position approved by the probation officer.
