CONFERENCE OF WOMEN'S INSTITUTES RECOMMENDATIONS TO GOVERNMENT (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 17. A meeting of representatives of the District Federation Committees of Women's Institutes, which is at present sitting in Wellington, passed the following resolutions:— "That this conference of delegates from Women's Institutes from all over New Zealand thanks the Government for setting up the inquiry into the incidence of abortion." "That, in view of the recommendation in the M'Millan report, the New Zealand Women's Institute will support and co-operate in any Government scheme for domestic help, especially for women in the country." " That the economic aspect is of supreme importance in the matter of increased population and, therefore, a motherhood endowment scheme should be given early consideration by the Government." " That birth control clinics should be established where medical advice and guidance could be obtained by all."
" That we recommend legislation to govern and control the sale and advertisement of contraceptives and abortificients." "That the New Zealand Women's Institute will co-operate with other organisations in spreading knowledge of the evils of abortion by means of education and propaganda."
