NEW ZEALAND TROOPS

THE CORONATION CONTINGENT DEPARTURE FOR HOME LONDON, May 26. The members of the New Zealand contingent will leave for home on May 27, and a large crowd of their fellow countrymen are disappointed that there is no chance of bidding them farewell. Originally it was arranged that the troops should entrain at Liverpool street at 3.30 p.m. for the Royal Albert Docks, where they would board the Rangitiki for New Zealand, and the New Zealand Office sent out a circular advising New Zealanders resident in London. Then the War Office decided at the last minute, owing, it is stated, to a baggage and transport problem, that the troops should go direct from Purbright to the docks, resulting in the New Zealand Office having to issue a circular cancelling the previous one. The troops are upset, several calling at the office to express disappointment. A few of the contingent, including Major Weir, will remain for a short holiday.
