MR STANLEY BALDWIN
IMPENDING RETIREMENT THE ARCHBISHOP'S TRIBUTE (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, May 26. In the Upper House of the Convocation of Canterbury, the Archbishop of Canterbury referred to the impending retirement of the Prime Minister and observed that Mr Baldwin's place in national life and the part he had played there were far wider and deeper than his influence as leader of a great party. Mr Baldwin had proved himself a spokesman of the national spirit, and he had put before his countrymen great ideals which transcended all bounds of party. His appeal for peace in industry, his call to youth, and his call to the British Commonwealth would, never be forgotten. MEETING OF THE CABINET LONDON, May 26. Mr Baldwin will tender his resignation to his Majesty to-mor-row morning. His Majesty will also receive Mr Ramsay MacDonald. It is expected that Mr Chamberlain will announce the Ministerial changes in the evening. There were no set speeches at to-day's Cabinet meeting, but it is i|nderstood that the meeting closed with an expression of regret at the retirement of Mr Baldwin and Mr MacDonald from the Cabinet. RESIGNING TO-DAY LONDON, May 27. (Received May 28, at 0.30 a.m.) Mr Baldwin will resign on Friday.
