LABOUR PARTY CAUCUS

CALLED FOR FEBRUARY 16 . PRIME MINISTER’S PLANS (Special to Daily Times) WELLINGTON, Feb. 8. A caucus of the Labour Parly has been called by the Government for Tuesday, February 16. The Prime Minister (Mr M. J. Savage) said tonight that the caucus would probably last two days. The purpose of the conference was to enable all parliamentary members of the Labour Party to discuss many matters with the Ministry before he left for London to represent New Zealand at the Coronation of King George VI. Parliament would not reassemble until about the middle of August. The caucus of the party would give all members a chance to discuss the legislative programme for the next session and to prepare the ground for new measures.

Mr Savage also said that he had not fixed the date of his departure for the South Island or the itinerary of his tour, but it looked as though he would not be able to, leave until after the caucus.
