(Special to Daily Times) INVERCARGILL, Feb. 5. The Tapanui candidates were given their final gallops to-day on the coiuse proper, halfway out. Conditions were good and the track was in excellent ° r Gipsy Fair did strong work on the lead. She looks well. , _ , Mona’s Song, Ardchoille, and Galleon were in that order over a mile in Imin 48 l-ssec, the last four in 53 l-ssec —a good, gallop. . Corban went six furlongs in Imm 27 l-ssec and did it well. Milford and Ocean Singer were together at the end of six furlongs done in Imin 21 4-ssec, the last, four in 56sec. 'The former is coming along well. All Humbug and Moneyless ran six furlongs in Imin 19 2-ssec, the last four in 53 3-ssec, and could have done a little better. Johnny beat Red Treasure over seven furlongs on the plough in Imm 33 2-ssec. the last four in 54 1-osec. Young Sentinel beat Cleaner over , a mile in Imin 50sec, the last four in 56 3-ssec. The latter was disappointins. Queen Astrid and Blue Sapphire went five furlongs in Imin 9 l-ssec. Enwood beat Honest Maid over a mile in Imin 40 2-ssec, the last four in 55 3-ssec. Both these horses are very well. , .. Coat of Arms also went a mile. He recorded Imin 49sec, and has improved lately. Golden Song ran five furlongs in Imin 4 4-ssec, and could not have done much better. British Star, Western Song, and Trebleack finished in that order over six furlongs in Imin 19sec. The lastnamed has a cold and is unlikely to race at Wingatui. Clara Bow and Dazzling Eyes ran five furlongs in Imin Bsec.
