INSULTING WORDS

SEQUEL TO COURT ACTION FARMER PLACED ON PROBATION (Per United Press Association) NAPIER, Nov. 23. A charge of using insulting language to a well-known jockey, Percy Christian Atkins, was preferred against Frederick William Ehrhorn, a farmer, of Hawera, at the Napier Magistrate’s Court this morning. The prosecution was the result of a civil action heard in the Supreme Court at Napier, when Ehrhorn was nonsuited in a claim for £ISOO for the loss of the racehorse Gay Chief, allegedly through the negligent riding of Atkins. “ After the civil action was over I went out on to the parade and talked to a number of my friends,” said Atkins. “ I saw Ehrhorn on the parade, and while I was speaking to some friends he came up and said, ‘ I suppose you’re satisfied now, «ou dirty rotter, but I’ll get even with you later.' He seemed very annoyed about the case,” witness added. The magistrate convicted Ehrhorn and ordered him to come up for sentence if called upon within 12 months. He was also ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution and to undertake not to molest Atkins in the future.

Forty aeroplanes, representing all the Australian States, have been entered for the Brisbane-Adelaide Handicap Speed Race, timed to finish on December 18.
