LIGHT-WEIGHT BOXING

M'LARNIN DEFEATS AMBERS 'NEW YORK, Nov. 21. (Received Nov. 22, at 6.30 p.m.) Jimmy M'Larnin (10.4) earned a chance to face the champion Barney Ross by the ease with which he outboxed the light-weight champion Lew Ambers (9.10) in a 10-round bout. The crowd of 10,000 saw M'Larnin out-punch his rival in the ratio of two to one after a somewhat shaky start in which Ambers appeared to be in his best form. Yet lightning left hooks forced him to seek clinches. M'Larnin turned the tide in -the sixth round with a staggering right, dazing Ambers momentarily and opening the way for an avalanche of blows.

For the greater part of the fight M'Larnin v. r as able to connect a powerful, steady right to his rival's jaw at will, shaking Ambers to the heels, but never flooring him.
