AUCKLAND CUP MINIMUM
(Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 6. The committee of the Auckland Racing Club decided to make a 7.0 minimum for the Auckland Cup instead of 7.7 as previously announced. This action was taken in consequence of the pronouncement of the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr W. F. Parry) that his recommendation in regard to the imposition of a 7.7 minimum in races should not apply this year to the New Zealand and Auckland Cups. NOTES FROM INVERCARGILL (Special to Daily Times) INVERCARGILL. Oct. 6. Training operations on the tracks this morning were not very instructive. Double Shot and Triple Cone being the only Dunedin Jockey Club candidates to visit the course. Both were let off with light exercise. Golden Lap, Baltruin, Tauramai, Double Shot, and Triple Cone were railed through to Wingatui to-day to fulfil engagements at this week's fixture. During his hurried trip to the North Island last week the Riverton trainer, G. C. Bain, purchased on behalf of a client the four-year-old mare Barley Almond, by Lackham from Butter Scotch. Barley Almond has been accorded a nomination for the Gore spring meeting.
RACING IN AUSTRALIA YOUNG CRUSADER'S WIN (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, Oct. 6. Gold Rod is now experiencing ligament trouble. He will not be raced again till next autumn. Capris has been rehandicapped 71b to 8.4 for the Caulfield Cup. The Herald, commenting on the Metropolitan Handicap, says: "Young Crusader recorded one of the most remarkable wins yet witnessed in this race. Taking full advantage of his light weight, he had all the other run-' ners struggling hard from the halfmile.
